Llangunllo WI welcomed members of neighbouring WIs and the community to their Open Evening in October with Blood Bikes Wales.
President, Karen Edgar, introduced Ray Rand, Area Rep for Powys, who gave an interesting and in-depth talk about the service which is all run by volunteers.
Powys Blood Bikes is now the second busiest in Wales, providing a completely free courier service to the NHS, delivering blood samples, plasma, donated human milk, vital for premature babies, documents and other items to where needed.
The service is funded solely from donations and has won the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service and The Welsh Charity Award.
Ray answered numerous questions from those present and thanks were expressed by Dawn Gill, Vice President.
Refreshments were enjoyed and the evening ended with the draw “Bottle In A Bag.”
