July Service at Llangunllo Church – Remembering St Cynllo.

The feast day of our Patronal Saint is 17th July and our service on the following Sunday was a Celtic Evening Worship. Led by Rev Petra, we remembered the work and dedication of the Christian Saints, and in particular St Cynllo.

It is thought Cynllo was a Welshman of princely descent of the earlier 500s – “The Age of Welsh Saints” and he established a “llan” (a place enclosed for religious purposes) at Llangunllo – “The Church of St Cynllo” in the early 6th Century. The church established by him has served the community as a place of worship for 1500 years and we hope, the present building and the services which take place in it, continue to offer a spirit of welcome.
