Llangunllo Walk May 2024

On 4th May 29 people, including 5 children, plus 5 dogs set off from Llangunllo station to Dolau to walk back to the village. It was a rare fine day, and we filled the one-carriage train. The conductor had his work cut out to take the fares in the 11 minutes of the journey.

We then walked back to Llanfihangel Rhydithon church and took the steep road up towards the Radnor Forest, stopping to admire the wonderful spring flowers and take a breath as we climbed. Then onto a track which winds its way along the foothills of the Forest, and crosses the road towards the Coco camp site. We followed the bridleway through the camp site and picnicked in warm sunshine on a sunny bank. It was then a short stroll up to the top of Hen Cefn Lane. Some diverted to admire Pen-y- Pen-yClawdd Lake, while others continued to the Greyhound pub where many pints were enjoyed.

The walk was approximately 7 miles long and completed in fine style by all, including the super energetic rugby playing youngsters.

Come and join in next year when at the same Bank Holiday Saturday we will follow Glyndwr’s Way to Knighton, and train back.
