September saw Llangunllo WI turn the clock back to the Bronze Age to host an open meeting to hear a talk from Yvie George a local Archaeologist on the Bronze Age Heyope Hoard. The talk attracted a lot of interest with over 40 people enjoying Yvie’s presentation, and a chance to look at the replica torcs and information relating to the find, from its journey from being found whilst ploughing the land in 1955 to having a police escort, being declared as Treasure Trove, and now being displayed in the National Museum of Wales. The evening was rounded off with refreshments and lots of discussion as everyone looked at the interesting items Yvie had brought with her. It was also nice to hear from guests a few days after the evening how much they had enjoyed the talk.
