Well, that turned out to be a very popular first visit to Llangunllo. Sunny’s mobile fish and chip shop arrived on the car park of the Greyhound Inn and the queues turned up too. Either everyone was starving in Llangunllo and the surrounding areas or this is going to be a popular, regular event. Let’s hope it is the latter.
Starting the frying at 6:00 pm it didn’t take long for the waft of fish and chips to make its way across the village. It’s not a usual countryside aroma, but tonight, it seemed more than welcome especially as so many people had been anticipating this maiden visit of the local chip shop on wheels.
It seems this endeavour is going to be a great success going by the sounds of locals enjoying their cod or battered whatever and chips. And that includes the wife and me. I had cod and chips and you can’t get any fresher than these. I had to give the dish a few minutes to cool down before tucking in, but the queuing was well worth it. The bonus too is that it all takes place on the Greyhound Inn’s car park, so if you need refreshments to go with your meal, look no further than over the road.
Well done to Sunny, his team and The Greyhound Inn for allowing this to happen. We look forward to the next visit, which will be Friday 6th, September and then the first Friday of the month thereafter. On a side note, it was Sunny’s birthday too so he was serenaded to ‘Happy Birthday‘ in best Llangunllo sing-a-long style. Sunny’s van is part of Knighton Plaice Fish and Chip Shop.
