Morgan Bowen Llangunllo QtrSessions 1844, Presteigne. Stealing wool
Sixteen-year old Morgan Bowen, sentenced to seven years transportation for stealing wool. Bowen, together with Richard Chandler, had sheared a flock of thirty sheep belonging to the Rev. W. Roberts of Cwmheyop and sold the fleeces at Newtown. Chandler, who received a ten-year sentence, and Bowen sailed on separate ships for Van Diemen’s Land in 1844.
