Forget the Great Pottery Throw Down TV programme, our members demonstrated they too can make pots, I’m not sure they were to the standard of the potters on the television, but we certainly tried hard making coil pots under the watchful eye of Alex Allpress. Once our bowls took shape, amid much laughter, we set about glazing our creations ready for them to be fired by Alex. We all agreed that we had a really great afternoon working with clay and we now eagerly await the finished items, which hopefully will not have cracked.
After clearing away we held our business meeting discussing a number of issues including the resolutions vote, our knit and natter afternoon which we think should be renamed to crafts and natter as not all members are currently knitting items, and our plans for the County Show. Following the business meeting we shared a lovely tea, caught up on news, and the arrangements for our charity shop week where we hope to raise money for our WI.
