It was heartening to see a good turnout for the ‘Community Carols Around The Christmas Tree‘ on Sunday 17th, December. The weather was kind to us for the time of year, remaining cool, but dry.
Everyone was treated to Mulled Wine and Mince Pies which always makes it feel a little more like Christmas. The format of the music was changed this year to previous years and blended perfectly with the occasion.
The evening’s festivities were introduced by Pam Livingstone-Lawn in her usual friendly and relaxed manner. Trevor Head, playing trombone, accompanied the singing of the Christmas Carols. Favourites such as ‘Once In Royal David’s City‘, ‘Away In A Manger‘, ‘While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night‘ and ‘We Three Kings‘. These were interspersed with singalong tunes such as ‘Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree‘, ‘Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer‘, ‘White Christmas‘ and ‘Santa Claus Is Coming To Town‘ played on guitars by Debbie & Trev Jones and Paul Hardware with Debbie leading the way on vocals.
The music finished with Trevor Head joining in with the three minstrels and of course, the audience, with a fine rendition of ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’. It was a wonderful time when the community, from the very young to the elders of the village all joined together in the true spirit of Christmas.
