Knighton has a rich history, dating back to Anglo-Saxon times. It’s unique for being the only town built directly on Offa’s Dyke, the ancient earthwork that once divided England and Wales. The town’s Welsh name is Tref-y-clawdd. The Offa’s Dyke Centre is located here, and the Offa’s Dyke National Trail, a long-distance path, runs through the town.
