The harvest festival began at 4:30 pm with a gathering of farm vehicles in a field kindly loaned by Haydn Jones at Lower Bailey Farm. Tractors of all shapes and sizes, from the very small ones used by local children, to the huge earth-moving giants used by the farmers, were all given a blessing by the Vicar, Rachael Storer.
The congregation made their way to St Cynllo’s church for a harvest celebration led by Rachael. Ron Johnson read Psalm 100 followed by a reading of Matthew 6: 25-33 by Charles Kightly. Hymns were scattered throughout the service and the presentation of the Harvest gifts took place: soil and water, fruit and vegetables, farm produce and machinery and bread and wine. A short talk was given by Rachael about the meaning and symbols of Harvest. After a final hymn and blessing, the congregation was invited to enjoy refreshments.
