On Monday, 30th, August 2021, the annual Llangunllo community walk took place. There were 11 in the group plus 3 dogs. Everyone met outside The Greyhound Inn and drove to the car park at Monaughty. We took the footpath through the woods to Litton Hill where we stopped for photos at the trig point. Then descended to Pilleth where we had lunch and Jackie kindly met us with water (BUT NO BEER…) and took one of the group back to Llangunllo on account of blisters! We then ascended to contour around Graig Hill and descended via Hendregenny back to Monaughty – around 8 miles in total. As usual, we ended with a drink in the Greyhound and enjoyed pork pies brought from York by Charles Kightly. Jan Walmsley plotted the route – a task usually shared with Paul Northwood. We missed Paul greatly and also Rick Twyman who has also met us at the halfway point in previous years. Discussions about next year’s walk are already underway!
Many thanks to Jan Walmsley & Jane Read for their contributions and to Charles Kightly for the photographs.
