Brycheiniog (Brecknock) was the featured county at the Royal Welsh Show in July 2026 at Llanelwedd.
The Brecknock Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers were invited to attend and create a community weaving experience in the New Sheep Village Pavilion.
The work, in preparation, had started earlier in the year collecting over 50 different types of fleeces from the Brycheiniog region.
The Guild shared the workload of preparing and spinning the fleeces into balls.
Over the 4 days of the show over 170 visitors and Guild members contributed to the weaving of the tapestry.
It was an amazing experience having the opportunity myself to handle so many different fleeces. I created a sample book with over 30 different knitted swatches.
For information – The 2027 Royal Welsh Show sees Ynys Mon (Anglesey) as the featured county and in 2028 it is the turn of Maesyfed (Radnor!)
