Our September Meeting was an Open Evening with author Richard Cobourne, thriller novelist, writing in the world of showbiz and celebrity.
We welcomed members of other WIs and the community to a most interesting and entertaining time as Richard’s illustrated talk, ” I shouldn’t really be telling you this,” took us through his life in showbiz and later as an author – AND what a very lucky life it has been!
His career began working for the BBC, and during his time there, he was involved in film, sport, drama and entertainment programmes. He later left the BBC to co-found “On Screen Productions” and again spent time working with many well-known, named celebrities.
After selling the business in 2015, he pursued a career as a freelance consultant, creative producer, presenter, voice artist and turned to writing full-time. His novels have been successfully published and nominated for the Page Turner Awards.
The talk was followed by an informal Q&A session and Richard’s books, personally signed, available to buy.
Refreshments and the usual WI raffle rounded off the evening.
At the Business Meeting, held the following week, members were updated on Federation news and events, the recent changes to the NFWI Constitution and our programme for next year.
Next month we look forward to a Zoom Presentation – “The History of Underwear” (particularly knickers!) with Liza Jones.
